The expansion follows the securing of new co-packing contracts, including additional business with a major beverage company.
After converting an area previously used for storage, we now have three cleanrooms spanning 5,000 sq ft at the site.
The expansion is the latest major investment in co-packing as part of our ambitious growth plans.
Earlier this year, we installed a Nulogy cloud-based software system to improve the efficiency and scalability of our co-packing business, which was formerly known as AKW Global Warehousing and now forms part of our group’s logistics and fulfilment sector.
The three cleanrooms feature air filtration to provide a controlled environment for the packing of food, drink and pharmaceutical items. They can accommodate up to 60 staff working on a project at any one time. The group has invested a substantial five-figure sum to expand its operations.
Our Trafford Park co-packing facilities have the highest possible accreditation of an AA grade from the British Retail Consortium and have organic certification from the Soil Association.
Warren Hill, Kinaxia’s business development manager for contract packing, said: “By increasing the number of cleanrooms from one to three, we have made a substantial investment to expand our operations at Trafford Park and this has enabled us to win some significant new business. We are looking to invest further in co-packing across the group.”
“The integration of a new, purpose-built Nulogy software system provides operation control and collaboration solutions for manufacturers and their extended supply chains. With real-time reporting of production line efficiency and availability that gives full visibility, the system has enabled us to further improve our production performance.”
The Trafford Park site, which has over 100,000 sq ft of co-packing space, is one of a number of co-packing facilities across our group’s sites around the country.
