Congratulations to Izzy Newell in our marketing team, who has been crowned Kinaxia’s apprentice of the year as part of our National Apprenticeship Week celebrations.
Izzy joined the company in 2023 and is undertaking a Level 3 marketing assistant apprenticeship.
Her varied role involves a range of projects, including content creation, social media management and event marketing.
Jessica Cameron-Murphy, who is undertaking a Level 2 customer service practitioner apprenticeship and is based at our depot in Telford, Shropshire, came runner-up to Izzy.
Callum Stone, who is undertaking a Level 2 finance assistant apprenticeship and is based at our site in Warrington, came third.
Delighted Izzy said: “I have really enjoyed my role as a marketing apprentice at Kinaxia. I’ve found it to be an incredibly rewarding experience.
“The apprenticeship has provided me with valuable opportunities to learn, develop new skills and grow within the business. Kinaxia has been a great place to progress, offering plenty of support throughout my journey.
“There are so many opportunities within the company, and I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship to my peers.”
Our chief executive Michael Conroy praised the trio and added: “Embracing apprenticeships to help our Kinaxia people develop their skills and forge long-term careers in the logistics industry is vital for the future of the sector.
“Our apprentices play a key role in our strategy to attract, recruit, retain and nurture the best talent as we continue to invest in the future workforce. It’s all part of our overarching One Kinaxia strategy to get closer to our people and invest in their development.
“Izzy, Jessica and Callum can be proud of their achievements so far and we look forward to seeing them and our other apprentices continue to flourish in their careers with Kinaxia.”
Jessica said: “I chose an apprenticeship as I wanted to do something new and challenging, as well as learn on the job.
“It’s opened more doors for me so I am able to grow within my department. It’s also given me the opportunity to help others, whether in the company or our customers. I like to help people as much as I can.
“My goals and aspirations are to continue learning more about the company and progress with my personal and professional development.
“Before starting at Maidens I worked in a nursery, a completely different industry. I was 34 when I started this apprenticeship and, even though it was scary to start it, for me it was very worthwhile. I’ve received a lot of help from my colleagues.”
Callum said he was inspired to choose the apprenticeship route because it meant he would be earning while learning on the job, would be able to apply the knowledge he acquires and then progress towards qualifications and a higher role in finance.
“The thing I enjoy the most about working at Kinaxia is that I can learn about all areas of the business and can easily access information here about all the roles and responsibilities within a business,” he added.
